The drum sander is the workhorse of the sanding world. A sander drum is basically a sheet of sandpaper attached to a cylinder, or drum, and then spun at high speed. When wood or other materials are pressed against the spinning drum, the surface is sanded down quickly and effortlessly. Larger drum floor sanders are available for heavy-duty and industrial uses. The floor drum sander is often mounted so that large amounts of material can be sanded in a single pass. Here are some of the most popular names in drum sanders, and a glimpse at the features that have driven their popularity.
The tabletop Performax drum sander features an infinite speed setting, between 1 and 12, intended to help you increase productivity by getting your rough sanding jobs done quickly. It is engineered to allow heavier usage for extended periods of time, a trait that has gained notice in cabinet shops and other professional arenas. But Performax does not stop at the tabletop models, either. The company’s stand alone flood drum sanders are a forced to be reckoned with.
A Grizzly drum sander is a leader in woodworking tools and equipment. Built with the heavy-duty capability you demand from construction tools, these models are also made with the innovative design you have come to expect from Grizzly. Drum sander sizes range from the 12″ Baby Drum to industrial floor drums sanders that can handle more than 36 inches at a time.
Ryobi drum sanders are everything you would expect from a name like Ryobi. They are stand-alone floor drums capable of handling up 16 inches of material in a single pass, or 32 inches using a double pass method. The conveyor can be adjusted for a number of feed variations, and the units are built to handle the near-continuous use of industrial settings. Ryobi may be the best-known name on the list of top sanders, but it often ranks the highest in price among comparative models.
Woodmaster drum sanders are available in several sizes, including a recently introduced 50 inch drum. While this company is not as well known as the other brands on the list, consumer and professional reviews alike indicate that Woodmaster drum sanders can give the leading brands a run for their money and provide the end-user with equal value for less expense.
One of the easiest types of sanders to use is the random sander. For sanding across the grain of woods, an orbit random sander will provide smoother results with less scratching or gouging. Many professional reviews have indicated that if you are learning how to use a sander, random orbit models are the “safest” to avoid making costly mistakes. Here are a brief look at 4 of the leading brands, and some of the features that set them apart from their competitors.
Bosch random sanders incorporate several designs that are shaping the technology used for random sanders. The company makes several models of 5″ random orbit sanders, and a 6″ random sander that is perfect for smooth finishes on jobs both large and small. For Bosch, their random orbit sanders are only another example of what quality power tools should be.
Porter Cable random sander are built for even the most demanding jobs, using industry-leading engineering to increase performance life and reduce component wear. Some models feature an electronic brake which increases productivity by reducing scratches and gouging. For even the most delicate sanding tasks, a Porter Cable variable speed random orbit sander is one of the best brands available.
Makita random sanders offer variable speeds, and come in both 5 and 6 inch pad models. There is even a 2-handed design for total control, and the 6″ random orbit sander is rated as one of the quietest random orbital sanders on the market. The Makita name is trusted on work sites everywhere, recognized for the durability and performance of the tools they make. Priced in the medium range for sanders, Makita sanders offer an exceptional value for the cost.
The Ryobi random sander is ergonomically designed to accommodate a variety of hand sizes and positions. Many models feature the Ryobi-patented through-pad dust filtration which keeps the work area cleaner and the finish smoother. Some models also feature the LiveTool Indicator, which cause the tools to glow when it is connected to a live power source. A Ryobi random orbit sander is built for heavy use, but priced for the home enthusiast.
Random sanders are precise sanding tools, engineered to provide the smoothest finish possible with a hand-held sander. From home projects to commercial construction projects, random sanders are used daily to get the smoothest finishes.
Dual Zone Wine Refrigerator is a great way to keep the perfect serving temperature for both red and white wines.
Wine drinkers know that in order to properly serve both types of wine, reds and whites, the correct temperature should be maintained. The problem, however, is finding a way to keep your reds at one temperature and your whites at another.
Thankfully, there’s a solution that doesn’t involve building a complete, temperature-controlled wine cellar/room in your home.
By having the ability to chill both types of wine at their ideal temperature, a Dual Zone Wine Refrigerator is a must have for not only the true wine connoisseur but the average wine drinker as well.
Before you spend your hard-earned money, though, take note of the following considerations for this type of beverage refrigerator and then get shopping.
The best place to find the largest selection of dual zone wine refrigerators is on Amazon. They will not only have the biggest selection but also they will have the best prices.
After you’ve decided that a Dual Zone Wine Refrigerator is the route to go, the next feature you’ll want to look for is humidity control. When it comes to wine, temperature and humidity are closely related. The colder the air, as needed for your tasty whites, the more humidity will be needed.
On the flip side, with your reds, less humidity is required due to the warmer temperatures. So make sure you include a humidity control coupled with the proper air ventilation. Because as most of you know, TOO MUCH humidity often leads to other problems: mold and mildew to name a couple.
Another important feature to look for in a Dual Zone Wine Refrigerator is the amount of insulation included and the quality of the front glass panels. Believe it or not, but too much or too little insulation plays a huge role in how well the refrigerator maintains its proper temperature zones; not to mention saving on long-term energy use. The glazing on the unit also needs to be the proper weight and thickness to maintain temperature and efficiency. So don’t overlook these features.
Moving on, two more important features to look for in a Dual Zone Wine Refrigerator are its capacity and its overall aesthetics.
Only you know how much wine you drink and therefore need to store on a regular basis. So make sure you get a unit you can live with for a fair amount of time; buying more than you need at the time is never a bad idea.
And finally, and for some most importantly, is the look of the unit. You can purchase refrigerators crafted with various types of wood, polished or brushed steel, and even units made to look like furniture. Whatever your taste, there is a Dual Zone Wine Refrigerator waiting for you and your next few bottles of wine.
Tired of dreading your morning shower because stepping out of your shower is more like stepping into an icebox; bathroom heaters are solving that problem for many, many people.
You don’t need to suffer in your own bathroom any longer. Whether your home is old or new, many homeowners complain that their bathrooms are cold.
Modern homes with forced air heating systems often have heating units that don’t have the ‘umpf’ to get the warm air to where the bathroom is. Older homes can be drafty and not well insulated which can be the cause of chilly bathrooms. The addition of a simple bathroom heater can make all the difference in your family’s comfort level when using the lavatory. Best of all, these bathroom heaters are energy efficient because you only need to run them when you need them.
Before deciding on a particular type of heater, take an objective look at your bathroom.
Fortunately, styles of bathroom heaters have come a long way and are offered in a variety of styles and functions.
Bathroom heaters come in a lot of different wattages. Measure your bathroom to get the approximate square footage of your room as most heaters are manufactured with a specific wattage rating to heat a recommended square footage.
Here is a good guideline to follow: Figure you’ll need about 10 watts per square foot. If your room measures 12 X 12 then your room is 144 sq. ft. So 144 Sq. Ft x 10 watts tells you you’ll need about a 1500 watt heater to sufficiently heat your bathroom.
Wall mounted bathroom heaters fit flush into your wall and can save you a lot of space. They usually come in 120 or 240 volt styles, and many even come with convenient timers and self regulating thermostats. Ceiling heaters are another great space saving option.
These bathroom heaters mount flush into your ceiling and have a wall switch to turn the unit on and off. Bulb heaters often are coupled with an exhaust fan and come in styles ranging from 1 to 4 bulbs. Each bulb is between 250-270 watts. Separate wall switches control the heater and the exhaust fan. Baseboard heat is a traditional, dependable heating method that has been available for a long time and is available in units ranging from 500-1200 watts.
It’s recommended if you are not skilled with installing electrical appliances or fixtures, that you hire a professional electrician to perform your bathroom heater installations. A professional electrician who is familiar with bathroom heaters will look out for thing you might miss, like whether the unit can come into contact with wall insulation and the recommended best installation height and location. The professional installer has probably seen hundreds of bathrooms and knows best where these units will benefit from optimal placement.
Although technically not considered a bathroom heater, a luxurious accessory that can be added to your bathroom is an electric wall mounted towel warmer. Many of these units plug into an existing wall outlet and some are even floor standing models. These units gently warm your bath towels on demand so your towel is toasty warm when you step out of your warm shower or bath.
Portable bathroom heaters are another non-permanent installation option. Just like a space heater, it can be plugged into any standard outlet and moved as needed. These units also come with a self regulating thermostat that will turn the heating element off when the room reaches the designated temperature.
These units are ultra-affordable at prices right around $40. Recently, wall mounted heaters that plug into a traditional outlet have become available from specialty retailers like Brookstone. While these units may not have the power of a permanently installed unit, their pricing and transportability make them an option to consider. These units are also a smart choice if you are renting an apartment or home and don’t want to or are not permitted to add a permanent fixture in your bathroom wall or ceiling.
With the variety of models available, it is easy to find bathroom heaters to fit any sized bathroom or budget. Prices can range from units prices as low as $100 to towel warmers over $500. Getting a good deal on a bathroom heater is as easy as doing your homework and shopping around. Many on-line retailers offer discount like free shipping on these types of heaters. So stop freezing and start enjoying a bathroom heaters toasty warmth.
WordPress has a built in ping service that allows you to add this WordPress ping list, and have all your blog posts sent to search engines and blog directories automatically. Handy hey? Well, let me show you how to do it.
